Week: 3 Period: 9 UNIT 2: HEALTH Lesson 1: Getting started - Going out, or staying in? I/ OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students can: talk about health issues and give advice on healthy living; use “have a/an; feel” to talk about health problems 1. Knowledge: a. Grammar : - Imperatives with more and less - Compound sentences b. Lexical items : - Vocab: the lexical items related to the topic health issues. c. Pronunciation: - Sounds: / f / and / v/ 2. Skills: - Listening, Speaking, Reading,Writing and interactive skills 3. Attitude: - Cooperation, respect, having right and friendly attitudes with friends, teachers in the new school 4. Quality and competence: - Be confident and friendly with the new school environment - Develope listening, speaking skills and cooperative interaction II/ TEACHING AIDS (MATERIALS) 1.Teacher’s preparation: - Lesson plan, Pictures, posters ,textbook,CD-MP3(Computer-Multi projector/cassette/ “sách mềm”) and other materials 2.Students’ preparation: -Textbook, notebook, school things. III/ WORKING ARRANGEMENTS( WAYS OF WORKING ) - Pair work , individual work, group work, T-WC IV/ TEACHING PROCEDURE: 1-Greeting`and checking students’ adtendence: Total: In: ......... Out: .......... . 2-Checking the old lesson 3-New lesson: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities I.Warm up: Brainstorming - Teacher elicits the topic from students. ? Work in two teams and write one by one word from students. - Teacher monitors and gets feedback. -T introduces the new lesson II. What time is it? What do you think the people in the picture are talking about ? Who do you think is healthier? - T plays the recording and ask ss to follow along and check their prediction 1a. Find a word or phrases that has the same meaning (P17) - T lets ss read the dialogue again and do the exercise individually - Give feed back -Answer the questions by guessing -Read the dialogue again and do the exercise individually 1a.Key: 1. Then listen and repeat (P17) -T goes through the health issues in the box and the pictures. -Have ss work individually -Give feedback -Play the recording and have ss repeat *Can you think of any more health issues ?Add them to the box - T has ss work in group to add more b.Which problems do you think ... (P17) -T asks ss to work individually. Try to give the reason 3 . Match the correct advice with each person (P17) -T asks ss to read through the list of advice aloud - T asks ss to complete the matching activity individually and corrects the activity as a class IV. Production 4 Game - T divides the class into two groups and give one group problem cards and one group advice cards. - T instructs ss to walk around the room and read their cards to each other and stand next to the person who has the matching advice or problem card. -Work individually to complete table 1b.Key: 1.
